Great insight! Some of my dearest friends are classroom teachers. It wasn’t always that way, however. There were many times I felt “left out” of the professional loop and stayed to myself in my “speech room.” However, when I really realized how connected speech and language is to learning and early literacy, it helped establish “worth” and helped build positive relationships, especially with primary teachers. I try to remember every day that we help pave the way to further learning so kids can connect sounds and words to phonics, reading, writing, and to comprehension.
